Enfield’s Trash Outsourcing Report: Keep It In-House

This table is from a consultant’s report prepared for the town of Enfield by Mercer Group Associates and BridgeGroup. RRM refers to the town’s Refuse and Resource Management division. The table also notes that 2025 is an election year, hinting at possible political considerations. Enfield has released the final consulting report on the possibility of outsourcing trash hauling — and it recommends keeping the service in-house. The report by Mercer Group Associates and BridgeGroup LLC says the town would see only “limited” cost savings by outsourcing its Refuse and Resource Management (RRM) services. But the town also provides a level of service that many other municipalities don’t necessarily offer. It describes RRM as having an “experienced, committed staff” with a “strong work ethic,” and warns that outsourcing could mean losing that expertise. At the same time, the consultants say the town could improve efficiency and productivity through better management, equipment replacement, and ...

What's up with Enfield Cinemark and its movie selection?

Missing winter, Enfield Ct.

The film, Death of a Nation, (the trailer) was universally panned by critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the reviews, and what the trailer shows, the film appears to be rightwing propaganda.

But why is the Enfield Cinemark still showing Death of a Nation, now in its second week, and not the new Spike Lee movie BlacKkKlansman?

The Spike Lee movie has 98% percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes versus 0% rating for Death of  a Nation. I'd like to see the new Spike Lee film and really don't want to drive to West Springfield.

The Cinemark West Springfield is showing the Spike Lee’s film, but it is not showing Death of a Nation. Go figure. And West Springfield has 15 screens, versus Enfield, which has 12. The Buckland Hill 18 is showing the Spike Lee movie and not Death of a Nation.

The question to Enfield Cinemark is, what’s up with that?

Why is Cinemark Enfield running a film that may be a conservative propaganda effort and not the film from one of America’s preeminent film makers?

Is Cinemark telling us something? Trump did win Enfield about 49% versus Clinton at 45%. But that doesn’t explain it.
